CLEVELAND, Ohio – University Hos𒈔pitals MacDonald Women’s Hospital has launched a mobile ultrasound unit in Portage and Lorain counties to give mo♎re pregnant women access to prenatal care, UH announced recently.

“The flexibilityඣ and efficiency of the unit will allow our experts to care for more women during pregnancy and fill gaps in access to care,” Dr. David Hackney UH chief of maternal fetal medicine, said in a statement. “Throughout the country, and also in Northeast Ohio, health risks of pregnancy like high blood pressure and preterm birth have been rising. Expert prenatal care, including fetal imaging, can help address this trend.”

The UH𒀰 Mobile Obstetrics Unit, which launched in late April, travels five days per week to perform fetal ultrasounds for pregnant patients. The truck will be located in the parking lot of Center, 630 E. River St., on Tuesday and Friday.

On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday the mobile 💙unit will be at 6847 N. Chestnut St., Ravenna.

The truck is staffed with specﷺialty sonographers, and medical experts revi𓂃ew the ultrasounds remotely, UH said.

Pregnant women should receive two to three ultrasounds during their pregnancy, to confirm the fetus’ heartbeat and estimated due date and detect ☂potential complications for the ✱mother or baby, UH said.
