Son of NBA legend commits to Michigan basketball

Four-star senior guard Justin Pippen, the son of Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen, has committed to play basketball at the University of Michigan, he announced on social media. Justin Pippen, the son of Pro Basketball Hall of Famer and Ch𒅌icago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen, has co❀mmitted to play basketball at the University of Michigan.

Pippen, a four-star senior guard at Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles, announced his decision🎶 on social media.

“Go blue #committed,” Pippen said in an Friday.

The 6-foot🌄-3, 180-pound Pippen is the 62nd-ranked high school boys basketball player in the class of 2024, according to . He chose Michigan over a final list of schools that included Cal, Florida, Stanford and Texas A&M.

“I like the feel of the campus and school,” Pippenꦅ told of his commitment to Michigan. “I wanted to be at a big school. They can help me reach my end goal of making the NBA.”

Pippen’s commitment to Michigan comes about a month after the Wolverines hired new head coach Dusty May from Florida Atlantic University. May replaces former NBA and Michigan star Juwan Howard, who was fired in March after the Wolverines finished the season with an 8-24 r🌳ecord.

“I was really going to make a decision between my 💟other schools,” Pippen said. “Then I got a call from Coach Dusty May. I wan🍨ted to give him a chance. We set up a Zoom call. I went on a visit, and I felt it was the right place and situation for me.”

Justin’s father, Scottie, played 17 seasons in the NBA from 1987 to 2004 for the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets🍨 and Portland Trail Blazers, winning six NBA championships en route to a Hall of Fame career. Justin’s older brother, Scotty Jr., is a second-year guard for the Memphis Grizzlies. Scottie played collegiate basketball at 🍸the University of Central Arkansas while Scotty Jr. played at Vanderbilt.
